how do i get my dad to wear a motorcycle helmet?

Ever since my family and i moved to florida, it seems like all i see in the news is car and motorcycle accidents. My dad refuses to wear one and i don’t understand why. I’ve told him how selfish he’s being but he still won’t. How can I get him to wear a helmet??

Try to make a deal. Maybe if he doesn’t, you won’t do a certain thing. Does this help?

Taking a motorcycle helmet on an airplane?

hunny its male ego, the only thing that might change that is if another male that he respects convinces him that it is a good idea. If you were driving a motorcycle he would probably make you wear a helmet

Just be very frank with him: "Dad, if you won’t wear a helmet, will you sign off on this million dollar life insurance policy? I need the money."

Tell him "dad, i love you and I don’t want any bad to ever happen to you, please wear a helmet" and when/if that doesn’t work, look up on google or something "motorcycle accidents" under the images tab and show all the lovely images that come up to your father.

My husband is a paramedic here in Florida right outside Daytona Beach. He constantly goes to people not wearing helmets and sees their brains scattered on the road. Tell him to watch some videos of what happens to people that don’t wear them

Remnd him of all of the bad things that have happened to those who havn’t worn a helmet. f he stll refuses< try talkng to another adult, and not beng to harsh or anything but not like calling 911 but contacting your local polce department just maybe to have a talk with him. That might do him justice. And dont say that he is beng selfish but that he is only hurtng himself.

The best way is to do the tuff luv… if you tell him you love him a lot and it would be horrible if anything happend to him, and you would be upset the rest of your life, it might make him wear one

Isn’t it a law in Florida? It is in New York.
As my driver’s ed teacher said many years ago, remember that a helmet only helps once your head hits the road, by which time you’re already in trouble.
My brother-in-law was killed in a motorcycle accident three years ago. He was wearing a helmet; it didn’t matter.
But, I have a dear friend who lost his left leg because of a very serious motorcycle accident 30 years ago. His helmet saved his life. He had numerous injuries, including a hairline fracture of the skull. His helmet cracked apart. Had he not been wearing it, I guess his skull would have cracked apart instead.
If your dad cares about you, and I’m sure he does, he will protect himself by wearing a helmet. It’s as simple as that.

Listen to my story. My dad before I was born he rode a motercycle. One day he was on the freeway and he was just driving it. Then his brakes stopped working. So he jammed on them and did it again. Then it worked. Then all the sudden he went flying and fell in the middle of the freeway. This 18 wheeler cam up and ran him over right up in the middle. On both sides. No one came to help him. Finally he got picked up by a helecopter to the hospital. He had one heart attack on there. Then one in the hospital. And one the doctors never knew about. Tell him this story. That’ll do it.

I would look for pictures on the internet of accidents. I would also threaten him. I would tell him he has a good chance of killing himself when he could have made a better choice. That you have choices in your life to make and some of them could kill you too. That he is not being a good example, and when he answers the door one night to a cop and hears you drank and were hurt very bad,he will remember this conversation! Tough love works on parents too. I ride a Harley,I live how I want my children to live, and I want to see my grand kids grow up. I live by example. I wear a helmet.

For starters start showing him videos of motorcycle accidents on a daily basis. You might want to print photos of victims and place them by his coffee every morning or on his pillow every night just so he gets the hint. Alternatively get buy him a helmet and pretty much force it on him…
